List of Committees

Labour Management Committee

This committee of not more than four (4) members strives to resolve matters of mutual concern by bringing together union and management representatives in an attempt to improve the organization’s labour relations.

Job Evaluation

This committee works jointly with management to review considerations of changes in job descriptions and responsibilities over time.

Trustees

The committee of three (3) Trustees act as internal auditors and meet at least once a year to review the local’s finances and record keeping of such.

Health and Safety Committee

The committee of three (3) specifically trained members shall identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving health and safety programs and recommend to the Executive Director or designate actions to be taken to improve conditions related to Health and Safety.  

Bylaw Committee

The committee of two (2) members shall review the bylaws annually and make recommendations to the Executive on proposed amendments. 

Bargaining/Negotiating Committee

The committee of not more than six (6) members to represent the Union shall participate in the process of negotiating a renewal of the Collective Agreement.

Grievance Committee

The committee can be comprised of four (4) members who shall oversee the handling of all local grievances.

Compassion Committee

The committee of up to two (2) shall extend the Local Union’s condolences in the event of the death of a member or one of their immediate family along with any discretionary events for a member.

Education Committee

The committee shall gather information about appropriate courses, the availability of courses, and make recommendations to the Local Union on whether or not members should be attending.

Women’s Committee

The committee shall advise and give guidance to Officers the general membership on all issues that affect women in the workplace and the union movement.

Committee Against Racism and Discrimination (CARD)

The committee shall advise and give guidance to Officers, committee members, and the general membership on all issues that affect equity-seeking groups and members in the workplace and the union movement.
